On August 19, 2025, the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, was notified by the Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office that the 20-year-old female motorcyclist involved in this collision had succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.
This is the 53rd Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year, as compared to 26 at the same time in 2024.
The investigation remains ongoing.

On August 17, 2025, at about 3:03 PM, a critical motor vehicle collision involving a single motorcycle occurred on Farrington Highway, east of Ala Akau Street, in the Waianae area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 20-year-old female motorcyclist was traveling westbound on Farrington Highway, when she lost control and struck the raised concrete curb.
As a result of the collision, the 20-year-old female motorcyclist was ejected off the motorcycle and onto the roadway.
The 20-year-old female motorcyclist was transported to an area hospital in critical condition by Emergency Medical Services.
The 20-year-old female motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
At this time, speed appears to be a contributing factor of this collision. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol are factors
The investigation is on going.
