On August 19, 2025, at about 1:18 AM, a fatal Motor Vehicle Collision involving a single vehicle occurred on North King Street, westbound, near Pua Lane in the Kalihi area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 51-year-old female motorist was traveling westbound on North King Street, when for an unknown reason, she traveled right of the roadway and collided with a wooden utility pole.
As a result of the collision, the 51-year-old female motorist was transported via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in critical condition where she later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.
The 51-year-old female motorist was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.
At this time, it is unknown if speed, drugs, or alcohol is a contributing factor.
This is the 52nd Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year compared to 26 at the same time in 2024.
The investigation is ongoing.
