On July 25, 2025, the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, was notified by the Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office that the 72-year-old male motorist involved in this collision had succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
This is the 45th Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year, as compared to 22 at the same time in 2024.
The investigation remains ongoing.

On Saturday, July 12, 2025, at approximately 05:42 hours, a fatal motor vehicle collision occurred on the Fort Weaver Road southbound before Renton Road in the Ewa Beach area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 37-year-old male motorist and his passengers, an 18-year-old and a juvenile male, were traveling northbound on the Fort Weaver Road at a high rate of speed when he collided with a 72-year-old male motorist.
As a result of the initial collision, the 37-year-old male motorist’s vehicle went airborne and rolled over, ejecting the 37-year-old male motorist onto the grassy median.
The 37-year-old male motorist was pronounced dead at the scene. The two occupants sustained serious injuries and were taken to an area hospital.
The 37-year-old male motorist was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.
The 72-year-old motorist sustained critical injuries and taken to an area hospital.
At this time, speed appears to be a contributing factor of this collision. It is unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol were contributing factors.
This is the 43rd Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year as compared to 19 at the same time in 2024.
