On September 10, 2024, at about 8:55 PM, a serious motor vehicle collision occurred on the H-1 Freeway (west), west of the Pearl City on-ramp.

It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 61-year-old male motorist, was traveling westbound on the H-1 Freeway when an unidentified Witness Vehicle changed lanes, traveling into the path of travel of the 61-year-old male motorist. The 61-year-old male motorist swerved to avoid a collision with the unidentified witness vehicle and collided with the concrete barrier on the right shoulder.

The witness vehicle continued on westbound and has yet to be identified.

The 61-year-old male motorist was was transported via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in serious condition.

At this time, neither speed, drugs, nor alcohol appear to be contributing factors to this collision.
