On September 30, 2022, at about 9:08 PM, a critical motor vehicle collision, involving a vehicle and a motorcycle, occurred on Kamehameha Highway in the Wahiawa area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 33-year-old male motorcyclist was traveling northbound on Kamehameha Highway, in the right turn only lane, when he continued straight through the intersection and broadsided a 27-year-old female motorist, who was making a left turn onto Olive Avenue from the southbound turn lane of Kamehameha Highway.
As a result of the collision, the 33-year-old male motorcyclist was ejected from the motorcycle onto the roadway and subsequently transported to and area hospital in critical condition.
The male motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
The 27-year-old female motorist was treated at the scene by Emergency Medical Services for minor injuries.
At this time, it is unknown if speed, drugs, or alcohol is a contributing factor on the part of the 33-year-old-male motorcyclist. Neither speed, drugs, nor alcohol appear to be a contributing factor on the part of the 27-year-old female motorist.
The investigation is ongoing.
