On September 17, 2022, at about 8:05 PM, a critical motor vehicle collision, involving a single motorcycle, occurred on Kalanianaole Highway, south of the Makapu’u Lighthouse.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 42-year-old adult male motorcyclist was traveling westbound on Kalanianaole Highway when he lost control, veered left of center, and collided into the guardrail of the eastbound lane.
As a result of the collision, the 42-year-old male motorcyclist was ejected onto the roadway and subsequently transported via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in critical condition.
The 42-year-old male motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
At this time, it is unknown if speed, drugs, or alcohol is a contributing factor in this collision.
The investigation is ongoing.
