The Citizens Police Academy (CPA) is an interactive 11-week program designed to educate the public about HPD policies, the criminal justice system, and ways to reduce crime. The CPA allows members of the department and the citizens of the City and County of Honolulu to meet, share ideas and information, and interact in a positive and proactive setting.
The Business Police Academy was designed to educate the public about its departmental policies and operational procedures, the criminal justice system, and ways to reduce crime.
Sessions cover a variety of subjects that will give participants a basic overview of what it takes to be a police officer. Some of the presentation topics include firearms, communications, report writing, police vehicles, domestic violence, crime scenes, and community policing.
Participants must be at least 18 years old and pass a criminal background check. If you are interested in participating, fill out an application form.
