Upon the investigation of the murder of a 19-year-old male in Mililani on June 4, 2026, detectives from the Homicide and Strategic Enforcement Detail determined that the victim and another 21-year-old male approached a group of individuals gathered in the open garage of a residence where a social dice gambling event was taking place.
Reportedly, the victim, while threatening those present with a firearm, demanded money and property. The second male suspect also demanded property.
During the incident, a struggle occurred over the firearm and the victim was shot. A 21-year-old male was identified as the suspect in this murder investigation. Just after noon, the suspect turned himself in at the Kapolei Police Station with the assistance of the District 2 and District 8 Crime Reduction Units. He was arrested for Murder in the Second Degree.
Further investigation led to the identification of a 21-year-old male who was a participant with the victim in the robbery that preceded the shooting. Just after 6:00 p.m., the 21-year-old male was arrested in Waiʻanae by the District 8 Crime Reduction Unit for Robbery in the First Degree. Charges will be sought with the Department of the Prosecuting Attorney.
The investigation remains ongoing.
