Updated on May 21, 2026: Trey Samoa turned himself in at the Kapolei station and was arrested just before 11:30 pm on May 20.
Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division’s Strategic Enforcement Detail continued the investigation into the shooting that occurred on May 17, 2026, in the Kaka‘ako area near Ilaniwai Street and Ward Avenue.
Through the investigation, detectives determined that a large fight broke out after patrons and employees exited The Gatsby bar. During the altercation, three individuals discharged firearms into a crowd of people, striking a 23-year-old male victim.
Investigators identified the shooters as 18-year-old Ezekiel Ramos Hoopai, 32-year-old Trey Samoa and 23-year-old Markelle McFarlin.
Today, May 20, 2026, Ezekiel Ramos Hoopai and Markelle McFarlin were arrested for Attempted Murder in the First Degree and firearm offenses.
Trey Samoa has not been arrested at this time and is wanted.
Charges will be sought with the Department of the Prosecuting Attorney.
