The investigation into the September 19, 2026, shooting at Hālawa housing was assigned to the CID Strategic Enforcement Detail. With assistance from the Homicide Detail and the District 3 Crime Reduction Unit, detectives interviewed numerous witnesses, recovered and reviewed surveillance footage, and examined and tested evidence.

Based on the investigation, they identified a 15-year-old male as one of the suspects.

On September 25, 2026, members of the Strategic Enforcement Detail, Homicide Detail, and District 3 Crime Reduction Unit located the suspect. At 8:35 p.m. the District 3 Crime Reduction Unit arrested him for Attempted Murder in the First Degree and three counts of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree.

Charges will be sought with the Department of the Prosecuting Attorney.
