On September 26, 2026, just after 8:30 p.m., District 4 Patrol officers responded to a shooting in the Kailua Target parking lot.

Preliminary information indicates that two groups of people were arguing at the Kailua Fall Festival. The argument continued into the Target parking lot, where someone pulled out a firearm. A 30-year-old male sustained a fatal gunshot wound. His pronouncement of death was made at the scene.

A murder investigation has been initiated.

The suspect is described as a local male in his late 20s, wearing a black sweater and his hair in two braids.
