On February 28, 2026, at approximately 4:00 p.m., District 6 Patrol officers responded to a report of a fight at the Queen Kapiolani Hotel in Waikīkī.
Upon arrival, officers learned that a 34-year-old male had been assaulted. Witnesses directed officers to a suspect who fled the area.
Officers located the suspect nearby on Paokalani Avenue.
During the attempt to detain him, an altercation occurred and a plainclothes officer sustained multiple slash wounds to the neck.
The 33-year-old suspect was taken into custody and arrested for Attempted Murder in the First Degree (Law Enforcement Officer) and Assault.
The officer was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment and is currently listed in good condition.
The initial assault victim refused medical treatment at the scene.
This investigation remains ongoing.
