On Friday, May 1, 2026, in response to community concerns about safety and illegal activity in the area, the Honolulu Police Department’s (HPD) District 6 organized a joint enforcement operation along the beachside areas of the Hale Koa Hotel and Hilton Hawaiian Village.
The operation took place from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and included HPD District 6 personnel, the Division of Conservation and Resources Enforcement (DOCARE), the Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR), the Department of Taxation Criminal Investigation Section, U.S. Army Military Police, Hale Koa security, and Hilton Hawaiian Village security.
This joint effort focused on public safety, illegal peddling, parking violations, camping violations, and other prohibited activities in the area.
As a result of the operation:
HPD made contempt arrests involving three suspects for a total of five outstanding warrants. HPD also issued one peddling citation and seven parking citations.
DOCARE and DLNR issued six warnings for camping and one warning for peddling. They also issued seven peddling citations and one citation for prohibited activity involving undersized opihi offered for sale.
The Department of Taxation Enforcement Division also took enforcement action related to an ongoing fraud investigation.
HPD appreciates the continued partnership with our county, state, federal, military, and private-sector partners.
These coordinated operations help keep Waikīkī safe, address illegal activity, and improve the quality of life for residents, visitors, and businesses.
