The ceremony marked an important milestone as recruits begin the next phase of their law enforcement careers and serve the communities of Oʻahu. The graduation also reflects HPD’s continued commitment to recruiting, training and developing qualified officers to strengthen public safety and meet the department’s staffing needs.
“I congratulate our newest officers on reaching this important milestone and commend them for their hard work and commitment to this profession,” said Honolulu Police Chief David Lazar. “Strengthening our patrol staffing remains a top priority, and each recruit brings us closer to meeting our full staffing goal. We look forward to the contributions they will make in serving and protecting the people of Oʻahu.”
As one class prepares to graduate, another has already begun training. Earlier this month, the department welcomed its 223rd recruit class. The class of 62 recruits, including 46 men and 16 women, reflects continued growth in recruitment as HPD strengthens its hiring efforts. The class is scheduled to graduate in May 2027.
HPD’s 222nd class, which began training in July 2026 with 66 recruits, is currently in training and is set to graduate in January 2027.
