HONOLULU— On Sept. 26, 2025, at about 2:15 a.m., District 1 officers responded to a report of two suspects damaging parked vehicles on ‘A‘ala and North Kukui streets.
Officers located the suspects inside Beretania Community Park. As they were being detained, a 31-year-old suspect became disorderly. Both suspects were placed in handcuffs during the investigation. While handcuffed, the 31-year-old suspect kicked an officer, causing shortness of breath and pain.
The owner of one of the vehicles estimated the damage at more than $2,000.
The 31-year-old suspect was arrested for Disorderly Conduct and Assault Against a Law Enforcement Officer in the First Degree. The 19-year-old suspect was arrested for Criminal Property Damage in the Second Degree.
The officer drove himself to a nearby hospital, where he was treated, listed in good condition and later released.
