The Honolulu Police Department (HPD) reported a smooth operation for Saturday’s “A Hui Hou Tribute to Fiji” concert, which drew an estimated crowd of more than 30,000 people to the Waikīkī Shell and Kapi‘olani Park.
Despite the unprecedented crowd size, HPD made no arrests. Police documented several minor incidents, none of which were considered major.
Incident statistics from the event include:
- 30 vehicles towed for parking in designated tow zones.
- Eleven responses to medical situations.
- Seven unauthorized drone incursions.
- Two responses to arguments.
- One response for found property.
- One warning to a driver
“Policing always works best when we work together,” HPD’s Major Events Division Major Cliff Ramson said. “We’d like to thank our key partner agencies of the City and County of Honolulu, and especially our personnel, from those who helped keep a watchful eye on the event at our Alapa‘i Station to the officers on the ground keeping things in order and maintaining public safety.”
HPD also extends its thanks to event organizers and the public for showing aloha, respect, and for celebrating responsibly.
