Legacy Sobriety Checkpoint for Safer Roads: A Partnership with MADD Hawaii and HPD

The HPD’s Traffic Division partnered with MADD Hawaii and community members to hold a legacy sobriety checkpoint in honor of Dr. William “Travis” Lau. He tragically lost his life in January 2019 when he was hit by a drunk driver while waiting at a traffic light to cross the street in Kaka’ako. The event started with sign-waving and concluded with officers conducting an impaired driver checkpoint. Let’s all commit to driving sober.
