Update: Suspect Arrested in Makaloa Street Murder

  • 2/20/24 Update: During the course of the investigation, the suspect was identified. On February 20, 2024, at approximately 2015 hours, the Strategic Enforcement Detail and the District 3 Crime Reduction Unit located the suspect in Halawa. He was arrested for attempted murder in the first degree, murder in the second degree, and two counts of attempted murder in the second degree. Charges will be sought with the Department of the Prosecuting Attorney.

    2/19/24 Update: During the course of the investigation, additional witnesses were located and reported that the suspect was with a female when they met the three victims outside. They allegedly all walked in together, when an argument ensued. The three victims started physically assaulting the suspect who then brandished a knife and stabbed them.

    Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or CrimeStoppers at (808) 955-8300.

    2/18/24: Shortly after 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, February 18, HPD officers responded to a report of stabbing involving multiple individuals on Makaloa Street in the Keeaumoku area.

    Officers determined that three victims were involved in an argument with the male suspect. The argument escalated when the suspect stabbed the victims. Victim 1 is a 28-year-old male, Victim 2 is a 25-year-old male, and Victim 3 is a 26-year-old male. All three victims sustained stab wounds and were transported to the Queen’s Medical Center for treatment. Victim 1 later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. Victims 2 and 3 were treated and released.

    The suspect fled on foot east on Makaloa Street in possession of the knife. He should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information is asked to call police.
