On March 3, 2026, at approximately 2:12 a.m., District 8 officers responded to a reported fire on Ala Akau Street.
A witness observed smoke coming from a neighboring unit, alerted the resident, and used a fire extinguisher to contain the fire until Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) arrived.
HFD extinguished the fire and determined it was intentionally set.
The case was reclassified to Arson in the First Degree.
The fire was contained to a kitchen. No arrests have been made at this time, and a damage estimate is pending.
