On December 9, 2025, at about 12:20 a.m., District 6 patrol officers responded to a disturbance on Kūhiō Avenue.
Officers encountered a 25-year-old male who was armed, experiencing a mental health crisis, and was inside a unit with family members.
During the incident, the male stabbed an HPD officer, causing injuries. The male also injured himself.
The officer later transported himself to the hospital in good condition. The suspect was taken into custody and transported to an area hospital for a mental health evaluation.
An Attempted Murder investigation has been initiated and remains ongoing.
