The Honolulu Police Department, in partnership with federal agencies, collaborated to arrest Kalehuaiwiliiamekamaile “Maile” Montez, a federal fugitive with multiple state and federal charges. On May 2, 2025, officers apprehended Montez in the Halawa area without incident at 10 a.m.
36-year-old female, Kalehuaiwiliiamekamaile Montez (Maile Montez), was positively identified as a suspect during an HPD fraud investigation in early 2024. Montez was arrested and charged federally for two counts of Aggravated Identity Theft, Access Device Fraud, Forged Security, False Statement to Financial Institution, and Conspiracy to Defraud the US on Oct. 21, 2024. In November 2024, Montez fled while in custody. A federal warrant was issued for violating her pre-trial release. Montez had two $15,000 and one $20,000 state cash only warrants, totaling $50,000 aggregate. Montez has 10 prior felony convictions.
This arrest underscores the ongoing commitment of HPD and federal agencies to protect the public and uphold the law, and HPD extends its gratitude to the officers and specialized units for their dedicated efforts and collaboration in preventing more community members from falling victim to fraud.
