Over the weekend, HPD’s District 3 hosted a community holiday event at Walmart in Waipahu, with support from HPD officers and civilians, Walmart, and Weed & Seed Hawaiʻi. Refreshments and snacks were generously provided by Walmart, and members of the local Lions Club assisted with staffing the table.
The event connected children from the neighboring communities with shoppers from HPD, the Honolulu Emergency Services Department, Hawai’i Department of Law Enforcement, Federal Bureau of Investigation, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Department of the Prosecuting Attorney, Hawai’i Army National Guard, Hawai’i Air National Guard, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Attorney’s Office, and Shriners Children’s Hawaii.
This spirit of community was captured by Officer Micah Medeiros; while bonding with a 6th-grade student over their shared love of gaming, Officer Medeiros personally covered the cost of a PS5 Fortnite Edition and a controller in the student’s brother’s favorite color, so that the two could play together.
The holidays are brighter when we come together to create meaningful moments for our keiki. 🎄💙✨ #christmasshopping #communitysupport #holidaycheer #mahalo
