CrimeStoppers and the Honolulu Police Department are warning the public about a recent Uber scam.
Some Uber drivers are receiving telephone calls from someone claiming to be an Uber customer service representative. The person then asks for the Uber driver’s account information, at which time, it is given. The driver later discovers that money earned from the fares has been withdrawn from their account.
Never disclose your account information to anyone over the phone. If you have doubts about the person you’re speaking with, hang up.
Anyone with information about these types of incidents is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 955-8300. The public may now send anonymous web tips to www.honolulucrimestoppers.org or via the P3 Tips App.
