CrimeStoppers and the Honolulu Police Department would like to inform the public about an increase of rental vehicles being used in criminal activity.

There have been cases recently where privately rented vehicles were being used in various crimes. The public should be aware that their rental vehicle may be used in criminal activity and therefore may want to vet the prospective renter. This is even more critical when the vehicle is being rented directly to an individual without meeting them in person as opposed to posting their rental thru an app such as Turo. Vehicles determined to be used in a crime are subject to possible seizure.
