CrimeStoppers and the Honolulu Police Department wants to warn the public about a cell phone scam that is occurring.
There has been a case where the complainant was approached by a male in the Kaneohe area who stated that they were a tourist and needed to use the complainant’s cellular phone. The complainant let the male use his phone and later discovered that the male transferred money from his Venmo and Cash app accounts into another account. Do not let strangers use your cellular phone. If an emergency call needs to be made, make the call for them.
