On February 15, 2026, at about 9:05 p.m., officers responded to a shooting fronting Taco Bell in Kapolei.
Two male visitors are part of a group who are from the mainland here in Hawaiʻi on contract work. The male visitors rented a gray 2022 Ford Explorer and were parked in the lot when an unknown male wearing all black and a black ski mask approached with a handgun and opened fire. Both victims were struck before the suspect fled on foot in an unknown direction.
The 40-year-old driver and the 42-year-old passenger were transported to area hospitals for treatment.
Update on suspect description: The suspect is described as a male, approximately 5’8”, 160 pounds, wearing a black ski mask, black hoodie with a white stripe, and dark pants. He was armed with a black handgun.
This case is being actively investigated.
