Officers from the District 8 Community Policing Team joined Nānākuli High and Intermediate School students and staff in their “SHINE: Every Life Matters” sign waving event this morning, in recognition of Suicide Prevention Month. Nānākuli’s SHINE initiative focuses on a mission each month, assigns it a color, and hosts community engagements like sign waving and handing out treats with uplifting messages such as “Continue to shine because you matter” and “Grit and Grace: You are stronger than you know” to families as they drop their keiki off for the day. The Honolulu Police Department will continue to partner in community-led initiatives like this that aim to create happier and stronger communities.
