Oʻahu has now recorded 54 traffic fatalities this year—double the number from last year. Each loss is devastating and preventable.
Interim Chief Rade Vanic reminds us:
“Traffic safety is not just the responsibility of law enforcement— it is a shared kuleana. Whether you are behind the wheel, walking, or riding, each of us plays a role in making sure everyone gets home safely.”
Safety starts with small choices:
- Drivers: Slow down, stay alert, never drive impaired.
- Pedestrians: Use crosswalks, make eye contact, stay aware.
- Bicyclists: Be visible, follow traffic laws, use bike lanes when possible.
- Everyone: Share the road, show patience, drive with aloha.
Together, we can protect lives.
