HPD’s Patrol Districts 1 and 6, along with the Major Events Division (MED), attended a Disaster Preparedness Fair hosted by Senator Sharon Moriwaki. District 1’s Acting Major, Henry Robert, shared information with community members on HPD’s role in disasters and how to maximize their preparedness. The District 6 Community Policing Team spoke one-on-one with attendees, handed out informational brochures on making to-go kits, and provided evacuation maps. MED Lieutenant Roger Wong showcased our Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS), which included an informational brief, a static display, and a live flight demonstration to show how technology could be used for evacuation route management and search and rescue. Officers in the HPD often collaborate among internal districts and divisions, as well as with outside partners, to keep our communities ready and safe.
