Davis, Morimoto memorialized on American flag

HPD officers Chad Morimoto and Garret Davis, who were killed in the line of duty, were memorialized on an American flag in Washington, D.C. as part of National Police Week. Other officers from around the nation were also memorialized on the flag.

Officer Davis, 28, died January 21, 2012. Davis was delivering paperwork to the main HPD headquarters on Beretania Street when he stopped in the far, left-hand lane of the east-bound, H-1 freeway to help a stranded motorist. Another vehicle hit Davis' patrol car and rammed into the stalled vehicle. Davis' vehicle caught on fire and he later died. Officer Morimoto, 39, died on July 23, 2012 after taking part in escort training in Mililani. Police week is a time for us to remember those law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty. But it's also a time to acknowledge and recognize their hard work and dedication.
