Kidnapping/Extortion Scam

CrimeStoppers and the Honolulu Police Department want to warn the public about a scam regarding a family member being held for ransom. The caller, who is a male, informs the person via telephone that a family member has been kidnapped and that they are to wire money to an address located in Mexico. All money transfers are requested through Western Union. The calls are made from a private number and the caller sounds like a Hispanic male. The public is warned not to send money and to call the police. If the call comes from a private number, let it go to voicemail.
