Media Access to the Central Receiving Division Sally-Port
Media representatives bearing valid news media credentials who seek entry into the CRD adult sally port must either inform the Security Post officers on the South Beretania Street side of the Alapai Main Police Headquarters, call the CRD General Public Main Line at 808-723-3000 pr activate the Adult Release door buzzer on South Hotel Street. This ensures CRD maintains situational awareness of all individuals entering CRD’s area of responsibility. [Note: If a media outlet does not have any type of credentials, a business card + ID would suffice.]
Upon CRD notification, representatives of the media, bearing valid news media passes may enter, on foot, the parking garage via the South Hotel Street entrance. They may enter the adult sally port via the pedestrian entrance, located on the mauka side of the adult sally port.
Media representatives shall then proceed directly to the area designated for the news media. A red rectangular floor marking marks the news media area.
Members of the media shall remain inside the area designated by the redlined floor marking at all times.
Members of the media shall not interfere with or impede vehicle traffic or the processing of arrestees.
News media representatives who fail to stay within the designated area will be asked to leave and escorted outside of the adult sally-port.
At no time will representatives of the media have access to the juvenile sally port or make any video recording, interview or observe the processing of a juvenile arrestee.
At no time will the media be given access to the Central Receiving Division administrative or cellblock areas without previous authorization from the CRD Division Commander.
Representatives of the news media shall exit the adult sally port from the pedestrian entrance door located along the mauka wall.
