On June 25, 2024, at about 2:50 PM, a serious hit-and-run motor vehicle collision involving a moped occurred on Kalanianaole Highway in the Aina Haina area.

It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 57-year-old female moped rider was traveling westbound on Kalanianaole Highway when an unidentified motorist attempted to overtake the 57-year-old female moped rider and struck her.

The unidentified male motorist continued traveling westbound on Kalanianaole Highway without stopping to render aid or provide information.

As a result of the collision, the 57-year-old female moped rider was ejected onto the roadway.

The 57-year-old female moped rider was transported by Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in serious condition.

The 57-year-old female moped rider was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.

At this time speed, appears to be a contributing factor of this collision. It is unknown if either drugs or alcohol were contributing factors.
