Driven by a shared goal to protect every life on our streets, Safer Roads, Together is the Honolulu Police Department’s comprehensive traffic safety initiative. This campaign bridges the gap between proactive community engagement and strategic enforcement to address the critical issues facing our roadways.
By fostering a culture of mutual responsibility, we work alongside residents to encourage safer driving habits while maintaining a visible presence to deter dangerous behaviors. The mission is clear: to eliminate preventable tragedies and ensure that every traveler—whether in a car, on a bike, or on foot—reaches their destination safely.

May: Click it or Ticket & Bicycle Safety Month
Click it or Ticket
Click It or Ticket is a high-visibility enforcement campaign designed to increase seat belt usage and reduce traffic fatalities through a combination of educational marketing and strict police enforcement. The program typically runs annually around the Memorial Day holiday, during which law enforcement agencies across the country increase patrols to ensure all drivers and passengers are buckled up.
Bicycle Safety Month
Observed every May, National Bicycle Safety Month is a public awareness campaign that encourages both cyclists and motorists to share the road safely and responsibly. The program focuses on promoting life-saving habits like proper helmet use, increasing rider visibility through bright or reflective gear, and educating drivers on yielding to bicyclists as legal road users.
