The Honolulu Police Department shall establish
qualifications for the safe operation of three-
wheeled motorcycles. Only authorized employees
shall operate departmental, three-wheeled motorcycles.

QUALIFICATIONS

Employees shall meet the following minimum
requirements prior to operating three-wheeled motorcycles on duty:

A. Possession of a valid State of Hawaii
driver’s license with a class code 2 or a class
code 2 with a restriction code P for three-wheeled motorcycles only;

B. Completion of the three-wheeled motorcycle
familiarization course conducted by the Training Division; and

C. Placement on the three-wheeled motorcycle
operator eligibility list compiled and maintained by the Training Division.

THREE-WHEELED MOTORCYCLE FAMILIARIZATION COURSE

A. Employees who wish to enroll in a three-
wheeled motorcycle familiarization course shall
have a written request submitted by their training
liaison to the Training Division commander in
accordance with Policy 3.35, TRAINING COORDINATION.

B. Commanders shall schedule their personnel
for this course so that no overtime is earned.
