The Honolulu Police Department (HPD) recognizes Sgt. Jonathan Frye for his swift and courageous actions while off duty during a house fire in Pearl City on Wednesday, June 24, 2026.
After noticing smoke and flames coming from a neighboring home, Frye immediately alerted the occupants, helping them evacuate safely before the fire spread.
“This incident serves as a reminder that our officers are also members of the communities they serve,” said District 3 Maj. Manuel Hernandez. “Sgt. Frye’s instinct to act without hesitation reflects the commitment to service, compassion and courage that define our profession.”
HPD acknowledges Sgt. Frye’s actions and extends its appreciation to the Honolulu Fire Department and all first responders for their coordinated response.
