On July 8, 2026, at approximately 12:20 a.m., a 76-year-old woman was feeding stray cats in the area of Guard Street and Farrington Highway when she left her vehicle running nearby.
A 14-year-old male, armed with a machete, approached the victim, threatened her, and demanded her vehicle. The suspect entered the victim’s vehicle and fled the area.
An alert was broadcast, and District 5 and District 7 Crime Reduction Unit officers located the stolen vehicle in the area of Kapiʻolani Medical Center. The suspect was involved in a collision with two parked vehicles before being taken into custody.
The juvenile suspect was arrested for Robbery in the First Degree and Unauthorized Control of a Propelled Vehicle in the First Degree.
The investigation remains ongoing.
