  • This week, the Honolulu Police Department recognized outstanding officers and civilian staff at the Chief’s Award Ceremony, honoring achievements from Spring 2025.

    Award Recipients:

    • Donna Takahashi-Gomes
    • Officer Molly Wilt
    • District 8 Burglary and Theft Detail

The prestigious Silver Medal of Valor was presented to Officer Matthew Kodama and former Officer (now HFD Fire Fighter) Charles Spencer Jr. for their courageous actions on January 19, 2020, when they risked their lives to protect fellow officers.

A highlight of the ceremony was the introduction of HPD’s new award, the Blue Heart Medal. This honor is presented to officers who demonstrate heroism and sustain injury in the line of duty.

    Blue Heart Medal Recipients:

    • Officer Felix Gasmen Jr., who sustained life-altering injuries while assisting with traffic control at a motor vehicle collision.
    • Posthumously awarded to Officer Kaulike Kalama and Officer Tiffany Enriques, whose families graciously accepted on their behalf.

It was a meaningful ceremony that reflected the courage, dedication, and sacrifice of the men and women of the Honolulu Police Department.
