(Also known as "Club Drugs")
What are Rave drugs?
Ecstasy (MDMA)
Street names: XTC, X, E, Adam, The hug drug, The love drug
Method of ingestion: Orally
Appearance: Various colors and shapes usually in tablet or capsule form
Effects: Pupil dilation, inattention, increased vitals, hyperactivity, Increased body temperature, sweating profusely or not, bruxism, muscle cramping, trisma, teeth grinding, nausea, hallucinations, blurred vision, paranoia, depression.
Negatives: Hyperthermia (water toxicity) can be fatal and is the leading cause of death. Can kill with first use, rapid tolerance, extreme depression
GHB (Gamma-hydroxy butyrate)
"GHB liquid"
Street names: G, Georgia Home boy, Liquid Ecstasy,
Grievous Bodily Harm, Scoop, Water
Method of ingestion: Orally
Effects: Acts as Central Nervous System depressant
Euphoria, relaxation, disinhibition, nausea & vomiting,
loss of gag reflex, amnesia / deep sleep in high doses
Negatives: Overdose- easier to overdose, hypothermia,
respiratory arrest.
Addiction- rapid tolerance, physical dependence, withdrawal can be
fatal.
Other negatives- Also known as the date rape drug and reduces social
inhibitions. Makes victim pass out and when he/she awakens, no memory
of what happen.
Appearance: Clear, slightly salty tasting liquid
resembling "Mr. Bubbles soap" or a white powder.
Common uses: It is used to enhance the music & good
feeling of the user during dancing. Brings the user back
down from an Ecstasy high that is too "speedy".
Increased sensuality and sexuality.
Rohypnol
"Rohypnol"
Street names:Roofies, ropes, ropies, roches
Method of ingestion: Orally
Effects: Causes memory loss
Negatives: Used for date rape
Common uses: Popular amongs high school students who take the drug with alcohol or after ingesting cocaine.
