Suspect in Aiea incident arrested
HPD officers arrested a 35-year-old man in Aiea yesterday. Around 3:30 p.m. at a residence in Aiea, HPD officers were able locate a male wanted in connection with a burglary. The suspect saw the officers and fled on a motorcycle, crashing the bike near Alvah Scott Elementary School. The suspect then fled on foot into a garage of a nearby home where he assaulted the homeowner of the residence. The homeowner's wife, who was in the house at the time, managed to get out of the home safely as the suspect entered the residence. The suspect then took the owner's vehicle keys and attempted to leave in the vehicle by reversing back and forth as he tried to get out of garage placing responding officers in danger. Officers fired several shots at the suspect striking him multiple times in attempt to stop the suspect. The vehicle hit a wall where it came to rest. The suspect was subsequently taken to a hospital and was arrested for numerous charges including attempted murder, burglary, criminal property damage, and unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle. The four officers and the homeowner were injured not seriously hurt.
