Chief Kealoha speaks over the airwaves

Honolulu Police Chief Louis M. Kealoha spoke over the airways Monday afternoon about his plan for the department in 2013. Chief Kealoha sat down with Jeff Davis, "The Solar Guy," on KGU 760 AM and talked about officer morale, community needs, and traffic safety. The Chief particularly stressed making Oahu roads safer. So far, in 2013, there have been 11 traffic fatalities, six of those involved pedestrians.

During the hour-long show, Chief Kealoha and Captain Andrew Lum also chatted about the stress of police work and helping officers cope with tragedy in a very dangerous job. "HPD officers are special because they've accepted a calling to serve," Kealoha said.

If you missed the interview, the show will re-air on Saturday, February 16 from 5 to 6 p.m.
