Garden used as learning tool

HPD Officers from the District 3 (Pearl City) Community Policing Team partnered with Our Savior Lutheran School for the summer. It's for a program called Growing Seeds of Friendship. It's the perfect name for the project because HPD Officers and several students from the school have planted a garden on the property, using tools from the community, and will learn about the plants.

The students chose what types of fruit, vegetable, or herb they wanted to plant. They also had to measure the piece of land they had and figure out how big their garden could be and how big each row of plantings could be. The project started last week and it's not just about the plants, the project promotes friendship, teamwork and pride.
