Do you know what the Social Host Liability Law is?

Many teens obtain beer and other alcohol from adults, whether it's from a parent, an older cousin, or a family friend. As we head into summer, the Honolulu Police Department is reminding adults that providing alcohol to anyone under 21 is illegal. Homeowners and hosts who permit a person under the age of 21 to possess liquor while on their property could face up to a year in jail and/or fine of up to $2,000.

Recent traffic fatalities involving alcohol and minors underscore the need for persons of all ages to act responsibly and take preventive action to save lives and reduce injuries. Summer should be a time of family celebration, not tragedy.

Hawaii Revised Statutes, Section 712-1250.5, Promoting intoxicating liquor to a person under the age of twenty-one.
