Answer: Animals need to be properly restrained while in a moving vehicle. An animal that is not restrained can get hurt, killed, or cause an accident when it’s loose in a moving vehicle.

Question: How can pets be properly secured in a moving vehicle?

Answer: Animals can be put in a cage or tethered while the vehicle is in motion.

Question: What’s the penalty?

Answer: A driver can be fined $97 for driving with an animal on his or her lap, or $57 if the animal is loose in a moving vehicle.
