Ask HPD: Ride-Along Program

Question: What is the Ride-Along Program?

Answer: The HPD Ride-Along Program gives the public the opportunity to observe police patrol activities in their community. Participants will ride with a patrol officer and hear the different types of calls for service that officers are sent to during a regular shift. It’s also a great chance to ask the officer questions you wouldn’t normally have the chance to.

Question: How can I participate?

Answer: Anyone interested in participating in an HPD ride-along can contact our Community Affairs Division at 723-3475, Monday through Friday, between 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Question: Are there any requirements?

Answer: Yes, we do have a policy that explains the guidelines and eligibility requirements for the Ride-Along Program. You can find that information on our website.
