Ask HPD: Mopeds on a Freeway


Question: Are you allowed to drive a moped on the freeway?

Answer: You are not allowed to operate a moped on the freeway because a moped is limited to 2 horsepower and a maximum speed of 35 miles per hour. There are serious safety issues with operating a moped on the freeway. A violation of this law can result in a fine of $97.
