Ask HPD: Domestic Animals


Question: Is there a law limiting the number of domestic animals (dogs, birds, cats, etc.) that are allowed on a residential property?

Answer: There are limits to the number of certain domestic animals you can have on a residential property. The number of dogs, ages four months or older, shall not exceed 10 per household. The number of chickens or peafowl shall not exceed two per household. Violators can face a fine of up to $100 and/or 30 days imprisonment.
