Scammers telling residents they have warrants

The Honolulu Police Department (HPD) is warning the public of a recent phone scam by individuals claiming to be Honolulu police officers. The scammers are calling residents and telling them that there's a warrant for their arrest because they failed to show up for jury duty or to pay a ticket. The scammers then offer to clear the warrant if the resident pays a fee.

The HPD does not solicit money or contact people for jury duty warrants.

If you have received a similar call, please contact HPD at 723-3609 and make a police report. Remember to never give money to strangers, in person or over the phone.
