Special Duty Fees

Service fees

Service fees are comprised of administrative, equipment, mileage, and worker's compensation insurance fees.

Administrative fee

An administrative fee will be charged on all requests. The requestor will be assessed $14.00 for the first officer and $2.00 for each additional officer per job assignment.

Mileage fee

The mileage fee will be a minimum of $10.00 or $0.55 a mile whichever is greater. The mileage fee shall apply if an officer’s vehicle is utilized in an escort or in movement to different job sites. The mileage fee for an escort shall be calculated from the officer’s residence to the completion of the escort and back to the officer’s residence. If the assignment is not an escort, then the mileage shall be calculated from jobsite to jobsite. If a city vehicle is utilized (marked patrol car or solo motorcycle) the mileage fee shall be paid to the City & County of Honolulu. If a subsidized (privately owned) police vehicle is utilized, the mileage fee shall be paid directly to the officer.

The Mileage fee is subject to change without any notice.

Equipment fees

Subsidized Vehicle $10.00 or $0.55 a mile; whichever is greater
Solo Motorcycle $10.00 or $0.55 a mile; whichever is greater
Police Bicycle $10.00 (Flat Rate)

 

Dishonored and Stop Payment Checks

Dishonored check

A check issued to the City that is for payment for Special Duty/Administrative, Worker Compensation Fee, Service and Equipment Fee, which is subsequently rejected for payment by a bank or other financial institution when represented for collection.

Stop payment check

A check issued to the City and/or Officer (s) as payment, which has been cancelled by the bank at the request of the maker.

A service fee of $25 shall be assessed against the maker for each dishonored check/stop payment of check as established by the Director of Budget and Fiscal Services.

Recovery of dishonored checks made good by the maker

Payments will be made to the City in cash, certified check, or cashier’s check, payable to the City and County of Honolulu.  The amount to collect will consist of the face value of the check, service fee, interest, and fines/penalties, if any.

 

Worker’s Compensation Insurance

HPD normally collects a Worker's Compensation fee of $5.00 per job. This fee may be suspended from time to time, and is subject to change without prior notice. All fees are non refundable.
