Compensation Rates

Special Duty rates are set by the Honolulu Police Department to ensure consistency and parity.

Special Duty requestors shall not compensate officers at a rate that differs from the current rate schedule. However, an officer at the rank of sergeant and above who accepts an assignment calling for a regular officer shall be compensated at that lower rank.

Officer’s earnings shall be paid directly to the officer hired.

Requestors are responsible for any tax liabilities.
